Creative balconies are captured with the help of a drone by photographer Adas Vasiliauskas, and the constantly updated album of vacation balcony photos can be viewed on the website kaledosbalkonuose.lt. The organizers of the project encourage citizens to continue creating a festive atmosphere on the balconies and to participate in the project “Light up Christmas on the balcony”.
“This Christmas will be different for everyone: we will not be able to meet with relatives or relatives, we will have to forget about the usual entertainment while we wait for the New Year. The moods of people are more and more pessimistic, more and more lonely people are locked in their houses. When you are surrounded by fear and confusion, I invite you to turn on the light not only in your heart but also in your balcony or patio. It is like a sign that the people who live here are full of optimism and faith that everything will be good ”, says photographer A.Vasiliauskas, who presented the project“ Light up Christmas on the balcony ”together with the Municipality of Vilnius and Go Vilnius before the holidays.
Gives a sense of community
The project started with the works of artists: the first balcony in Vilnius Old Town was decorated with an exclusive installation by artist Jolita Vaitkutė.
The balconies were decorated with the most famous artists and creators, whose works were scattered in various parts of the capital, from Žirmūnai to Naujamiestis and other distant districts of the city. The project has already attracted the interest of Vilnius residents: several photos of decorated balconies have been received. The most interesting balconies were visited by the drone of the photographer Adas Vasiliauskas, and the photos can already be seen on the kaledosbalkonuose.lt website.
For example, contestant Vitalija decorated her balcony with her daughters Mėja and Evita with huge lollipops. “We decorated the balcony for the first time this year, even though we have been living here for 13 years. One morning we woke up and realized that this holiday must be special. Why candy and lollipops? Because it makes you happy, it sweetens your life, it makes you smile. And believe me, it works! Especially when you see people stop by the window, lift their heads, smile, take photos. When the children see our sweet balcony, they immediately grab a lollipop, says the author of the idea: “Holidays are in our hearts, and if we are able to create them for ourselves, we may suddenly bring them to the hearts of others.”
The entrance to the house in Antakalnis was turned into a Christmas fairy tale by Aurelia and Andrius’ family, raising their daughter Auksė and three Australian shepherds: Cuba, Indy and Ernija. “We live in a house that has been counting for many years. Our parents settled here young, my brother and I were born. Now our daughter is growing up in the same house and the Christmas lights are flashing in the windows. The lighted windows connect us with those people who enjoyed Christmas here and raised children at the turn of the century, looking out the windows at the great St. Peter and Paul Church dome. We wish you all a St. Christmas, let’s discover the connection not only with the present, but also with the generations of the past ”, invites the family that lives in the historic MKPaco street.
Dmitrij, who lives on one of the upper floors of an apartment building in Žirmūnai, has created a radiant balcony with his family from unnecessary hangers, which is hard not to notice. “Before the holidays, we always try to lift our spirits not only for our family, but also for the people around us. Our balcony decoration, a green Christmas tree under the clouds, was invented 4 years ago, when balconies The surroundings remained dark even during Christmas. We want to encourage everyone to enjoy the holidays and make others happy from a safe distance, “wishes the family.
Invites to use the festive period in a creative way
A.Vasiliauskas continues to visit and with the help of a drone photographs the most interesting balconies in the capital, which surprise not only for their brightness, but also for their original decorations. All of them can be seen on the kaledosbalkonuose.lt website, where you can also find the contest rules and the registration form. Vilnius residents who wish to join the project are invited to submit photos of their balconies before December 27.

The artist invites you to take a creative look at home decoration: “Organize a meeting with the whole family, think of an original idea and have fun implementing it together. After all, you don’t need to be sad at home – we can all create a festive atmosphere while ensuring our safety and that of others. “
The winner of the “Light Christmas on the Balcony” contest, the most interesting, beautiful and festive balcony in all of Vilnius, will be chosen during a public online vote.
