“There is really no reason to expect a special improvement in the statistics in the next few days or weeks,” Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said after the extraordinary government meeting.

“The more we focus, the more we follow those rules, the sooner they can be considered. Today, I cannot promise that the restrictions can be lifted or lowered in the next week or two,” said I. Šimonytė.
Dust: time is not in our favor
After the government meeting, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys stated that neither time nor numbers are in our favor.
“Time and numbers, indicators. Neither time nor numbers speak in our favor. (…) We really invite everyone to concentration, tolerance ”, said the Minister.
A. Dulkys told a news conference that he needs to get back to a manageable situation.
The government decided to extend the quarantine until January 31. According to A. Dulkis, this is inevitable, because only in about a month it will be clear how the new setting will work.
“2-3 weeks will not be enough for the indicators to improve. Because we still have consequences and the virus loves December. After a good 3-4 weeks we will be able to test the situation we are in. The essential quarantine regime has been extended until the end of January. It will be difficult for everyone, “said the politician.
Kasiulevičius: one in ten people dies after being admitted to hospital
Professor Vytautas Kasiulevičius presented eloquent figures at a press conference held after the Government meeting.
“It just came to our attention then. 30 Lithuanian citizens die every day from an infection that claims many lives. It is necessary to imagine that every 10th coronavirus patient who dies in hospital dies,” said V. Kasiulevičius at the conference of press.
