Lidl, a retail chain that continues to expand in the country, has opened a store in Naujoji Vilnia on Pramonės st. 17A. The new store will be open during normal business hours from 8 am to 10 pm This store is already the seventeenth in Vilnius and the third, which the retail chain opens during the quarantine. On the opening day, Lidl paid particular attention to safe purchasing and meeting more stringent requirements.
On the opening day, additional security personnel were used to regulate the flow of customers, trolley handles and store surfaces were further disinfected, and customers were informed of compliance with security requirements. Protective masks are also distributed free of charge. Due to stricter requirements, most of the parking lot has been closed; this part is marked with barriers and STOP strips.
Contribution to the district infrastructure
By opening a store in Naujoji Vilnia, the retail chain made a significant contribution to the improvement of the district’s infrastructure. Lidl installed and renovated pedestrian paths in the surrounding streets, installed new street lighting and rebuilt Pramonės str. rainwater harvesting systems. Lidl has also implemented solutions to improve traffic near the store and on the surrounding streets, distributed on Pramonės street. and four lanes of traffic were formed, traffic lights were renewed, a safe left turn was installed onto Pramonės street, and a video surveillance system was installed.
Lidl also contributed to the improvement of the community environment: a new paved street Skydo str. residents, formed entrances to patios, equipped with rainwater collection system, roads and public lighting.
The new Lidl store is located in an exclusive location, in the very center of the Naujoji Vilnia district, near the station. The store is also notable for its non-traditional architecture and design, and the store building itself adapts to the shape of the existing plot and stands out for its diagonal façade. Next to the new store, there is also a plaza with greenery, benches and lighting, and the existing trees near the store’s territory have been preserved and incorporated to the maximum.
