The remaining first-stage households will receive electricity for up to six months in the first half of next year, but the guaranteed supply will be more expensive and household consumers will still have to decide later.
“If the consumer does not choose a new electricity supplier within six months, the ESO that provides the guaranteed supply service will have the right to interrupt the electricity supply,” the company said in a comment to BNS.
According to ESO, the price of the guaranteed supply will be recalculated monthly, taking into account the average price on the stock market of the previous month and applying a coefficient of 1.25.
“As of now, it is not possible to say what the price of the guaranteed supply will be from January 1,” the comment reads.
In the first stage, households that consume more than 5,000 people must choose an independent provider. kilowatt hours (kWh) per year (or about 420 kWh per month and paying about € 60 at the standard rate).
Currently, the majority of the country’s population purchases electricity from the public provider Ignitis Group, Ignitis, and the price is regulated by the State Energy Regulatory Council (VERT).
Household consumers wishing to choose an independent supplier can choose from seven companies: Elektrum Lietuva, Enefit, Inregnum, Perlas Energija, Birštono elektra, EGTO Energija and Ignitis (this company also operates as, and as an independent supplier).
