“That statement is a public relations campaign. 18 or 15 minutes before the meeting to send such a declarative statement, saying do something, do something. If you really care, call the phone and say we have a suggestion, could you consider her and accept her at the meeting?
Now I have not received any calls, I am only receiving such a statement through public space, this is the moment of the public relations campaign, “S. Skvernelis told reporters on Wednesday.
Directed S. Skvernel
On Wednesday, Prime Minister-designate Ingrida Šimonytė approached Acting Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and asked him to make any additional decisions necessary to tighten quarantine conditions at the Government meeting as soon as possible.
I. Šimonytė points out that the record rising number of people infected with coronavirus and the daily death reports of Lithuanians published on Wednesday show that the decisions made so far have not helped to stabilize the situation and achieve its improvement.
“I appeal to you because we no longer have any moral or political right to delay. Every day of delay costs people’s lives and health. Decisions not made today will mean the loss of people’s lives in the next month. If the entire Lithuanian health system is ‘burned out’ and does not provide the necessary, timely and qualified care without maintaining the number of hospitalized patients, the consequences will be extremely painful: the indicators of excessive mortality are already alarming, “said I. Šimonytė.
“I am ready to publicly support and support the necessary decisions, thus sharing their responsibilities. Faced with an unprecedented crisis, when government action is killing people, we cannot and should not be guided by narrow deductions of political benefits. I believe that you, both as a former official and as the current political leader of the Prime Minister, will act with honor and determination, ”said I. Šimonytė.
Health Minister-designate Arūnas Dulkys told LRT radio on Wednesday that quarantine restrictions should be tighter. He hinted at movement restrictions.
“I think that the restrictions on circulation will also be discussed, but they should not be thought about, taking out of the context only a parking lot or a separate trade of some products. They will be comprehensive ”, reiterated the minister.
The last meeting of the XVII Government takes place on Wednesday. On Friday, the Seimas is scheduled to approve the future center-right government program led by Ingrida Šimonytė. The new government will receive the powers after the Seimas approves its program and is sworn in by the new ministers.
