“The World Health Organization does not yet recommend mandatory vaccination against COVID infection. We believe that we must listen and speak with different groups of the population, to understand their concerns and questions about why it is questionable. Finally, strive for information open and transparent, share information and therefore get vaccinated as many people as possible, “a spokeswoman for the World Health Organization told Knowledge Radio.

According to I. Zurlytė, it is not surprising that there are a number of questions in society regarding COVID-19 vaccines developed in less than a year. The WHO representative points out that coronavirus vaccines are still completely new, so I. Zurlytė is convinced that with the availability of increasingly specific information on vaccines, the number of people who want to be vaccinated will increase.

“It just came to our knowledge then. I think that when we know more about these vaccines, about their safety, about their quality, when that information reaches people and is more specific, I am sure that the percentage of people who want to be vaccinated will be higher. “, said.

Aurelijus Veryga, Acting Minister of Health, states that it is realistic to expect that the vaccination of the Lithuanian population against COVID-19 will start in February-March next year.
