In Group C, Valdas Urbonas students will compete with Italy, Switzerland, Northern Ireland and Bulgaria.

Italy, the favorite of the group, is ranked 10th in the FIFA rankings, Switzerland is 16th, Northern Ireland 45th and Bulgaria 68th.

Despite the drought of victories in the official competition, which finally came to a halt last fall, Lithuania is ranked 129th in the FIFA rankings.

The Lithuanians have played the four-time Italian world champions on six occasions and four of them have lost on aggregate goals ratio 0:11.

However, two draws are much better remembered in Lithuania. In 2001, the teams also excelled without goals in the selection of the world championships in Kaunas, and in 2006 they played 1: 1 in the classification of the European Championship in Naples.

The then president of the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF), Tomas Danilevičius, won the match.

With the Swiss, the Lithuanian team has played three games throughout history and lost all of them (goal ratio – 1:15).

There was a failure against Northern Aria, another match ended in a draw and the only meeting with Bulgaria in a control match in 2003 resulted in a 0: 3 loss.

Of the Group C teams, only Switzerland participated in the last World Championship, hosted by Russia in 2018, and then withdrew from the fight in the eighth final.

Bulgaria last appeared in the final stage in 1998 and Northern Ireland in 1986.

The top ten groups will start the next battle and run until November 2021.

Only the winners of the subgroups will win direct tickets to Qatar, and the second-place teams will compete in the additional selection stage for the remaining three places for Europe.
