“After the meeting, the President pointed out that the candidate has many years of experience in the agricultural sector, is very familiar with the problems of this sector, has the so-called institutional experience in the Ministry of Agriculture, knows very well the people who they work there ”. Antanas Bubnelis.

However, the president noted that the priorities for solving the problems of the agricultural sector are not entirely clear.

A long-term vision of how agriculture could be transformed into an environmentally friendly sector, with greater added value and how agriculture could contribute more to strengthening regional policy was lacking, ”added the representative of the President.

According to A. Bubnel, the president lacked a clearer vision of how inefficiency and transparency issues related to the National Land Service could be addressed.

D. Miniataitė: my team could be made up of colleagues working in the Ministry of Agriculture

The candidate for Minister of Agriculture Dalia Miniatait afirmó said that during the meeting with the president, she spoke in business about her vision of agriculture for the next four years.
“We had a fairly professional conversation with the president, we discussed what would be the first priority of the works. The president asked how I personally see those four years and what the agri-food sector would be like in four years,” he said after the meeting.

According to the candidate for minister, one of the priorities at the moment is the development of programs in the agricultural sector.

“I think that now we should focus a lot on programming (…). One of the main tasks is to systematize the needs, see the priorities and put together the programming documents and the strategic plan,” he said.

D. Miniataitė pointed out that other important works in the field of agriculture are related to the desire to slow down climate change.

“Another job is how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and what we must do to neutralize climate change by 2026. In this case, we have to make many technological solutions,” he said.

Although the ministerial candidate said she was thinking about the possible composition of her team at the ministry, she said that so far she had not spoken with potential members.

“I thought a lot about the team, what kind of team could meet the challenges and future jobs. I will be open – I did not speak with those people, first I am waiting for an appointment, because then apparently, it will be possible to speak specifically (…). I do not deny that the team can be made up of colleagues who work in the Ministry of Agriculture ”, said D. Miniataitė.
