The public will have to be persuaded

As President G. Nausėda Antanas Bubnelis’s spokesperson said at the press conference held after the meeting, the candidate discussed the most important jobs with the president.

“This conversation was really detailed enough and maybe a bit longer than the others. Several areas of environmental protection relevant to Lithuania were discussed. It is possible to affirm and summarize in the meeting that the evaluations of the candidate and the president coincided on the need to establish more ambitious climate change objectives in Lithuania. It must also be established that environmental protection and attention to climate change must be integrated into all areas of life, ”said A. Bubnelis.

A spokesperson for G. Nausėda conveyed the president’s opinion that the candidate must convince the part of society that is skeptical of him.

According to the president, the candidate is professionally prepared for this position. However, it is also very important that you have to convince the part of society that is not satisfied with the situation in the field of environmental protection at the moment that you are ready to take up this position, ”said A. Bubnel after the meeting.

To the Presidency – with folder

After the meeting, S. Gentvilas himself stated that he believes that he will be able to implement the vision of a green Lithuania established by the president.

“We also discussed a lot about the president’s own vision of green Lithuania, about the president’s strategic priorities, because, as in all of Europe, in Lithuania, environmental protection is becoming a priority,” said the candidate.

“Ambitions are dictated not only by Europe, but also by Lithuania. In the opinion of our President, Lithuania should follow a much more ambitious policy. One of the tasks of the Government that is being formed is that we respond to the environment and see it as a priority. ”S. Gentvilas pointed out to the most important moments of the conversation after the meeting.

The candidate assured that the task of the entire government is to constantly speak to the public.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Due to the objectives and ambitions, the great task of the entire Government, not only the Ministry of the Environment, is a discussion with the public, business associations, the agricultural sector on the implementation of these objectives. ”Said the candidate.

Bubnel said the candidate would have to convince the public that they doubted him.

Mr. Gentville said he would do it with his first job.

“Today, I brought a green folder to the presidency, which I gave to the presidential team. It comes with decisions that you would make in the first week. First of all, due to the full protection of the Žuvintas reserve, it would be possible to do it in the first week. We also talk about the Punia silo as a reserve. Here was my clear answer to restore reserve status for the entire Punia Silo area. I believe that in the first semester of the year the definitive reserve status would be granted to the entire territory of Punia Silo ”, said S. Gentvilas, when asked how he was going to convince the mentioned people.

Not everyone will approve
