“We received calls to see if we found out about the flow management after Saturday, when Christmas trees were lit in big cities. We answer: we did not learn, because we already had experience with the Festival of the Sea in the summer and we did our homework, ”said Romandas Žiubrys, director of Klaipėdos švenčių.
Klaipėda residents are invited to watch the firing online and rejoice in the green day that is coming the next day, when there will be fewer people.
This year in Klaipeda a real fir tree with a forest scent is being redecorated. It was donated to the city by the Jankauskai family, who watched the Christmas tree grow under their windows for 30 years. Having grown to the size of a child, he grew up and began to block the sun from his home.
On Saturday, all Klaipeda residents will be invited to watch the celebration from their screens: the “North Star” celebration will be donated.
According to Klaipėda Mayor Vytautas Grubliauskas, creators, artists and performers had to look for new forms and solutions. “Although we feel the same Christmas spirit in our hearts as before. I believe in Klaipeda residents, in their responsibility and understanding, and furthermore, after the lighting of Christmas trees in other cities over the weekend, we have the opportunity to shine. and show us only on the good side. And although there will be no shortage of beautiful and welcoming events in the city, I urge you not to go if you cannot, and if you cannot, reconsider everything, “said Vytautas Grubliauskas, mayor of the port city.
More policemen will patrol the city that day. They will be careful not to swarm, keep their distance.
During the virtual event, spectators will have a half-hour concert “Christmas is coming to Klaipeda”, which will connect four capitals: Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, Kaunas, the temporary capital, Neringa, the future capital of Lithuanian culture and Klaipeda, the future European capital of youth.
Greetings from Vilnius will be sent by “Antique Kaspirovskis Teeth”, Kaunas – Linas Adomaitis, Neringa – Šeiko Dance Theater, and Klaipeda will be heard by Monika Liu.
Along with the Christmas tree, the lighting installation “Estrella del Norte” will be on in the Plaza del Teatro throughout the Christmas period until the Feast of the Magi. The installation by Arvydas Buinauskas, one of the most famous Lithuanian light artists, reflects the structure of the compass and indicates the four main directions of the world.
A team of 12 to 15 people will begin to install the installation in the Plaza del Teatro today and it will last several days. In the center of the star, the author will install powerful projectors, whose beam of light will be visible even from 20 kilometers away. The installation will run continuously to avoid crowds.
