Three main themes
As the president’s spokesman, Antanas Bubnelis, said after the meeting at the press conference, three main issues were discussed during the conversation.
“The conversation focused on three main topics: business support for the coronavirus period, innovation reform, coherent policies and their effective implementation, and the third part of the conversation on long-term innovation and economic policy priorities” Bubnel said.
According to him, according to the president, A. Armonaitė “although she is young, she is an experienced politician”.
“The conversation showed that he has a lot of energy, enthusiasm and motivation to implement these changes,” said the president’s spokesman.
“The president has found a number of contact points in terms of regional economic policy issues, the necessary changes in the field of public procurement. And the availability of financing for companies”, – the spokesman for G. Nausėda mentioned the common ground between the candidate and the president.
According to him, A. Armonaitė was asked about the imaginary team, she introduced her potential members.
Maximum priority
After the meeting, A. Armonaitė herself named her top priority.
“The first main priority is dictated by reality, currently more than 62 thousand Lithuanian companies are experiencing difficulties due to quarantine restrictions. We must do everything possible to ensure that aid measures reach companies in time to save jobs. And we would not have major consequences for the financiers in the future, “said the candidate.
“It just came to our attention then. I think it is very important here to help companies not only through active subsidies, but also in a regulatory sense. This is a good time for the objectives of business supervisory institutions, their functions, (…) make changes in this area ”, said the candidate.
The politician said that Lithuania should be reminded that the ministry is not only about economics, but also about innovation.
A. Armonaitė still did not want to name his possible team by names.
“I myself form the team, I told the president some possible names. (…) The team would be made up of both the party members who developed the program and professionals. I think it is important to coordinate that team so that there are different competencies”, said the politician.
