Previously, officials ordered the transfer of Maradona’s coffin to another room in the Casa Rosada, when fans occupied the presidential patio and interrupted the farewell to the soccer network.

The government had previously announced that it would extend Maradona’s farewell for three hours so that thousands of his fans could pay their last respects.

Tens of thousands of people have been waiting in line for the presidency since early morning to pass a coffin covered by the Argentine national flag and Maradona’s jersey, the number 10.

Many soccer fans fought back tears. Some of them said goodbye to the soccer world champion with a shirt with their name on it.

When they joined the presidency, fans waited impatiently. Some of them entered the inner courtyard of the palace and began chanting slogans.

Officials moved the coffin with the remains of a soccer grandmother to another room for security reasons, a government source told AFP.

At the same time, riot police clashed with fanatics throwing stones in the surrounding street and arrested several people.

Maradona, Argentina’s 1986 World Cup captain, died of a heart attack on Wednesday. Just two weeks ago, a legendary soccer player was discharged from a hospital where he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.

On Thursday, Maradona was buried in the Jardín de Paz cemetery on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where his parents are also buried.
