Another interesting interlocutor visited the LKL TV show “Basketball with Rimvydas Valatka”.
Suunto 7 – for sports and life presents a full conversation with one of the brightest Lithuanian trainers of the current generation Dainius Adomaitis.
The 46-year-old specialist was one of the most followed Lithuanian strategists in recent years: he had to get behind the wheel of Vilnius Morning and the national team.
However, since early March, when last season ended unexpectedly, Adomaitis has not been coaching for either team, devoting the resulting free time to family and self-improvement.
“I use that time productively, and when it comes to basketball, there are a lot of interesting games and tournaments, so I have to watch and put in a lot of thoughts and plans.” I observe the market of the coaches, the leadership of the most interesting coaches in the teams, so there is still time ”, commented the coach about his current daily routine.
The issue of the strategist’s separation with the former club was also addressed during the conversation. In the summer, there was no talk of “Rytas” offering Adomaitis very little money, but the strategist himself does not emphasize this aspect.
“There was no talk of money and he would not have decided everything,” said the coach. – This is the last topic of the negotiations. It took me two years. The vision was clear: we want to raise young people and in three years have players competing in the team, associated with the city and the club. There were many talented players who could make a difference both this year and next. I think that for some reason the vision of the club has changed, there are no more young players and it has been decided to choose another path ”.
However, while working in the capital, the club’s management had set other goals for young people: raising talent to the NBA or other wealthy clubs. Of the players mentioned by the coach, only Augustas Marčiulionis currently competes in the ranks of the Lithuanian runners-up, the remaining players seek happiness in other teams.
“When Linas Kleiza was working as a sports director, clear goals were set for the coaches. There are players like Sirvydis, Blaževičius, Tubelis, Marčiulionis: these are the players for whom the club has to receive the maximum redemption ”, said Adomaitis.
Speaking about the details of the coach’s job, Adomaitis hinted at finding the balance between talented and less talented players on the team.
“It just came to our knowledge then. There must be rules in the game, but they are not the same for all players. There are players who defend well and do it alone, and there are the poor. The work of a coach is so hidden, but There cannot be such a mentality that everyone knows that they are weak, but they do not have the maximum effort ”, revealed the specialist in his point of view.
