Alternative options for the establishment of a temporary hospital are also being considered, according to a press release issued by the Vilnius city municipality.

Largest bed reservation at VMKL Hospital

The number of patients treated at the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital (Calle Antakalnio 124) this week is consistently well above 100. Lack of staff

One of the biggest challenges today is ensuring a sufficient number of staff. This problem is exacerbated by shorter medical shifts and a sharp increase in the number of doctors with certificates of incapacity for work: the number of VMKL increased by as much as half a day last day, when management reported the planned transfer of employees to COVID-19. Only 20 doctors and nurses are unable to work due to a coronavirus-related condition.

The problem is solved at the initiative of the Vilnius City Municipality by agreeing to seek help from primary health care institutions. 51 employees of various levels, from doctors to nursing assistants, will join the VMKL team of polyclinics, Vilnius College and Vilnius University.

The Vilnius City Municipality has started to consider an alternative option for the establishment of a temporary hospital by installing a temporary hospital on the territory of VMKL instead of Litexpo. Such considerations were derived from the monthly rental price offered by Litexpo, which is too high for the municipality.

Problems with COVID-19 cases in the education system
