On Thursday, G. Nausėda submitted amendments to the unemployment, social security and health insurance laws for public consultation, the Presidency announced.

“In a state that fights for the well-being of the people, it is very important to guarantee a fair, precise, proportionate and adequate system of social benefits,” G. Nausėda said in the report.

According to the president, if the amendments were adopted, people with disabilities would be the hardest hit – employers would be encouraged to employ them.

Drug premiums are now covered by the state for people of retirement age and the disabled, whose monthly income is less than 95%. last year’s minimum consumption requirement.

The president proposes to apply 100 percent. the threshold of the minimum consumption need, in addition, the income will be evaluated not according to the amount of the minimum consumption needs of the previous year, but according to the size of the minimum consumption needs of the current year.

“The state cannot fix the size of the minimum consumption needs with one hand, saying that it is the absolute poverty line, and with the other reduce the size itself. It is also completely unreasonable, when evaluating the income of today’s people, to compare it not with the current one, but with the size of the consumption needs of last year, ”said G. Nausėda.

After the approval of the Law on unemployment insurance by the Seimas, the modifications would come into effect on January 1 of the following year, and on health insurance, on March 1.
