The autopsy was carried out at the San Fernando Hospital in the north of Buenos Aires on Wednesday between 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. local time.

The findings of the corpse of the deceased bear witness to the first reports that Maradona died of a heart attack. He was 60 years old on October 30.

Acute heart failure, a dilated heart and pulmonary edema are cited as the main causes of death, according to Clarín, the largest oriental newspaper in Argentina.

Authorities also confirmed that there were no signs of a possible crime.

The relatives had a request to the doctors.

Maradona’s family asked the doctors not to bring their cell phones to the autopsy room. According to Clarín, the request was made in anticipation that the body photos would not be disseminated.

Maradona’s health has deteriorated significantly recently as the consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle became apparent.

He recently had two heartbeats and had trouble with liver function.

Three weeks ago, the legendary footballer was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery because he had experienced a hemorrhage between the skull and the brain.

He was released from the hospital on November 11, and Maradona’s family thanked the surgeon who discovered the clot.

According to Clarín, the relatives saw Maradona “very nervous and anxious” during the last days of his life.

He was constantly supervised by a nurse and the family considered transferring him to Cuba, where Maradona had previously been treated in rehab clinics for craving cocaine.
