“It just came to our knowledge then. The people who were instructed to isolate themselves not from the National Center for Public Health but from the Seimas Chancellery, that information was inaccurate. They contributed a lot by raising their voice against epidemiologists at the National Health Center. Public. I also want to address them in public, please, it doesn’t make sense, “A. Veryga told reporters on Wednesday before the government meeting.

“Epidemiologists are doing their job and please don’t criticize them. People want, in good faith, to help, explain what the situation is, what the rules are, they should not abuse their power, all the people that we are. Furthermore, the same rules apply to the members of the Seimas, they must be observed ”, taught A. Veryga.

On Tuesday, the Seimas Chancellery published a list of parliamentarians, that he had to isolate due to contact with infected coronavirus. The names of A. Armonaitė and G. Landsbergis are also on the list. They were in the Seimas that day and said they were not informed about mandatory isolation.

Subsequently, the Seimas Chancellery clarified that said Seimas members may have had high-risk contact with patients with COVID-19. The NVSC indicated that it would inform them immediately about the isolation.

Subsequently, the NVSC reported that it was not necessary to isolate A. Armonaitė, G. Landsbergis and TVRaskevičius because their risk of infection was assessed as low. NVSC apologized for the situation.

Politicians did not miss the opportunity to write about it on Facebook.

A.Veryga explained that the NVSC did not need to apologize: “The Seimas Chancellery made a mistake and yesterday, I think unnecessarily, the National Center for Public Health apologized for the isolation violations.”

COVID-19 was diagnosed in the Seimas by members of the Liberal Movement faction Jonas Varkalis, Viktoras Pranckietis, Seimas Spokesperson Viktorija Čmilyte-Nielsen, members of the Christian Democratic faction of the Union Patria-Lithuania in the Seimas Vytautas Juozapaitis and Andrius Kupčinskas.

A.Veryga described the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in Lithuania as complicated. He said the government would decide on Wednesday to extend the quarantine in the country and consider restrictions on the operation of supermarkets next week.

“As long as the situation continues to be difficult, we must give up everything that is not vital,” said the minister.

The government will decide on Wednesday whether to extend the quarantine until mid-December, as well as whether to allow museums, galleries and tours to operate with reservations starting December 10.
