Daiva su 15 minutes shared her mother’s experience in the hospital, according to herself, to encourage people, even in the presence of COVID-19, when close relatives physically cannot be visited, to closely monitor their condition in medical facilities.

She says her mother started having leg pains in July. One day while he was at work, his son called and said that his grandmother was not getting better, so the family decided to call an ambulance. He took the woman to the Vilnius Republican Hospital (RVUL), also known as Lazdynai. The family thought that the grandmother could have clotted the blood vessels, but the RVUL did not detect it.

“After checking, they saw that everything was in order and that they needed to be transported for further examination and treatment, but there were no places in Lazdynai, so at night, about half a tenth, they took her to the hospital Marcinkevičius (Mykolas Marcinkevičius – ed.) On Kaunas Street “. It was July 27.

That day, the daughter says that she spoke to her mother on the phone and everything looked good, but the next day she noticed that her mother was “something like that.” And another: on the afternoon of July 29, I couldn’t call my mother, so Daiva says she’s worried.

“I thought, as is, if a person is on his mind, how not to pick up the phone. He no longer raised me or my sister on the afternoon of the 29th. Throughout July 30, we called my sister on the phone, nothing goes up, it’s abnormal, it’s not typical of my mother, until finally the phone was discharged.

I called the doctors, the doctor told him [pacientei – red.] great pains and we moved her to another room. I ask you, do you sometimes give him what medicine? There are strictly no sedatives for her. No, no, we don’t give anything, he says, ”recalls Daiva, but questioned the sincerity of the doctor and decided to go to the hospital herself, despite the fact that the patients could not visit due to COVID-19.

Found blue from bruises, not oriented in space

“I started to demand, I said that if they didn’t let me in, I would go differently,” says the woman. Hospital staff admitted Daiva to the hospital, but when she arrived in the ward, she says she was unable to meet her mother because, in Daiva’s words, she was “all blue, beaten, not oriented in space.”

“Swollen hands, neck, face, all black, unrecognizable. She waves her hands, and wherever I touch her, she cries, everything hurts. <...> Mom is lying, talking to herself, she with glasses, she doesn’t have glasses. I quickly took a photo.

How can such a condition be in two days? ”He asks rhetorically.

Then Daiva called the doctor and asked, “Now what?” And she, according to Daiva, replied that she was just waiting. stupidnas.

Fractures identified by RVUL

As Daiva found out later, her mother collapsed while going to the bathroom and broke her arm and head. However, she did not receive adequate help after her daughter was convinced.

The patient who was admitted to M. Marcinkevičius Hospital on July 27 was in the medical institution until August 7. Daiva notes that her mother was injured on July 30, but the X-ray of the swollen arm was performed only a week later, and the fractures were not found neither in this, but in Lazdynai Hospital, where the patient was sent before going to the Trakai Nursing and Support Hospital.

I mean this because people would still demand, even through that coronavirus, monitoring.

Daiva says that she herself called the latter medical institution and asked to take her mother for further treatment, because she did not want to leave her mother in the M. Marcinkevičius hospital any longer.

On August 7, before arriving at the Trakai Nursing Hospital, Daiva’s mother was again taken to the RVUL for exams that showed a fractured large index finger and a cracked wrist bone.

“I don’t see how much she, the poor thing, had to collapse for such fractures to occur,” says the woman.

These fractures are also confirmed by an excerpt from RVUL medical documents, which has the editorial board.

Daiva adds that, in general, it is difficult to remember the time her mother spent in the hospital. And at home she was always talkative, communicative, capable of taking care of herself, of walking.

“I have a photo taken through Jonines of how smart she is, sitting at the table with flowers, smiling, and a month and a half later, how she lies inappropriate. This is scary. I mean this because people would keep monitoring, even to through that coronavirus. If I had left my mother for two or three more days, I would not have had them, “says the woman. This photo described and then taken in the hospital was also seen by the newsroom.

I don’t understand how much she, the poor thing, had to collapse for such fractures to occur.

By this situation 15 minutes applied to a medical institution. The representatives of the M. Marcinkevičius Hospital submitted their responses in writing.

Fell when getting out of bed

When asked what could have happened when a patient complaining of leg pain began to become disoriented in space, the treating physician stated that “during treatment at the Department of Neurology at Mykolas Marcinkevičius Hospital, the patient was always conscious , concentrated, but there were short-lived episodes that hurt a lot in the whole right leg, got out of bed, sometimes cried and also suddenly calmed down after speaking.

Speaking on the phone on July 31, the patient’s daughter said: “The patient did not tolerate narcotic pain relievers or ‘sleep’ drugs, that is, he became agitated. <...>“During treatment in the Neurology Department of the Mykolas Marcinkevičius Hospital, a narcotic analgesic was prescribed only in case of very severe pain, one time,” says the hospital’s response.

According to a hospital statement, on July 30, “the patient got out of bed, fell to the ground, hit his head on the bed, went to the doctor. staff did not request. “However, the patient’s daughter, Daiva, does not understand how her mother could have requested the bruises if she had not been trapped in the environment. According to her, the mother remembers very little.

The hospital’s response sent to the editorial board says “July 30. 19.10 hours during the examination, the doctor noticed subcutaneous bruises on the right side of the forehead and in the area of the upper right eyelid, on the hands. The patient was conscious, fully concentrated, and explained to herself that she went to the bathroom and collapsed in the room.

A computerized tomography of the brain was performed; no skull fractures or intracerberal hemorrhages were found. Put cold on bruises. The movements of the hands and feet were in full amplitude, the pain was not indicated by the patient, so an X-ray of the hands was not performed “

An X-ray of the hand was performed 8 days later when the woman was discharged from the hospital. “On August 7, while preparing the patient for discharge and transfer to a nursing hospital, the patient complained that he injured his right wrist while walking and resting on a wand. An X-ray was performed, a fracture without dislocation was suspected and the patient was referred to an RVUL for consultation with a traumatologist, ”said the response.

As mentioned above, it was at RVUL hospital that the fractures were identified.

Likewise, the response of the M. Marcinkevičius Hospital states that the doctor who treated the patient denies having said the words about stupid.

An unscheduled internal audit is performed

Daiva emphasizes that her mother, who was later treated at Trakai Nursing Home, recovered and returned home after recovering. However, the woman is convinced that her mother did not receive help at the M. Marcinkevičius Hospital.

“I brought a walker and it was in Pampers in two days,” says the woman. And he says he wanted this story to encourage people to keep a close eye on how their loved ones are left in hospitals, where it is generally impossible to visit and see them due to the spread of the coronavirus.

In turn, the M. Marcinkevičius Hospital 15 minutes reported that an unscheduled internal medical audit is conducted by order of the hospital director regarding the evaluation of the quality of personal health care services provided to the patient.
