Maxima has 5 new coronavirus cases, but the number of recovering employees is increasing

On Sunday, November 22, the coronavirus was detected in employees of Vilnius and Anykščiai. A complete disinfection has been carried out in shops and other units where workers infected by COVID-19 worked.

“The COVID-19 infection, which is spreading across the country, does not bypass our employees, but we are glad that the number of people who have recovered is increasing every day. A total of 40 more workers recovered the last week. Sadly, five cases of the disease were identified yesterday. Employees who had potentially close contact with colleagues who developed COVID-19 were isolated. Stores and other facilities where coronavirus-infected workers worked have been cleaned and disinfected completely internally. We consult with the National Center for Public Health and take all recommended preventive actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, “says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

Retail chain Maxima has been informing the public about all cases of workers infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yesterday, COVID-19 infection was detected in four employees in Vilnius. Maxima XX Stores, Viršuliškių str. 30, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 11. No close contacts were found. The coronavirus was also detected in the Maxima XXX store, Savanorių ave. 247, for three employees of a working confectionery. One of them was at his workplace for the last time on November 10, the others on November 11 and 19. No high-risk contacts were identified.

COVID-19 was also diagnosed in Maxima XX, Anykščiai, shops, A. Baranauskas a. 4, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 15. A colleague who had a potentially close contact isolated himself.

Stores and other premises where workers infected with COVID-19 worked have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and shoppers of the Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.

“Today, we meet extremely strict hygiene requirements: shopping carts and baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are informed of additional recommendations for avoid direct contact and maintain a safe distance. We also encourage our employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, “says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand disinfectant fluids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Currently, the flow of shoppers entering the stores is limited in Lithuania. Shoppers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, remember to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and use the free disposable gloves available at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask.

A total of 219 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of which 91 have fully recovered. To date, 1,631 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. At present, the responses to the tests of 87 employees are still pending.
