According to the Government, S. Maslobojev did not receive the award due to the insufficient number of athletes competing in the competitions in which he participated.
“As 11 athletes from 11 countries competed in the 91 kg world championship of the World Kickboxing Championships held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from October 19 to 27, 2019, the state award cannot be awarded in accordance with said law.” Says the report.
It also states that the Sports Law stipulates that the award for achievements is awarded if at least 16 countries competed in the competition of the sports competitions specified in the law, and victory was achieved by defeating at least one third of the competitors.
On Sunday, Masloboyev shared a gift received by the prime minister on Facebook – a thank you letter and a drinker – for the title of World Champion at last year’s kickboxing championship.
“Give thanks and drink for the long, tense and hopeful years, donated for the benefit of the Homeland. Thank you, “said S. Maslobojev.
He admitted to the news portal delfi.lt that the gift was disappointing, because he expected a prize for this victory.
The award procedure has been the subject of debate in the sports community for some time.
The government says that thanks to the gratitude and symbolic gifts, as every year, athletes are awarded on the occasion of the Day of Physical Culture and Sports according to the list of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
According to the Government, the list includes the athletes and their coaches who have achieved the greatest achievements in the world, European Championships and Youth Winter Olympics from October 2019 to September 2020.
