“In recent days, with the dramatic increase in the number of new COVID-19 infections in the country, we are inevitably registering more cases among our employees. We are very happy that the number of people who are recovering is increasing every day, and this week 39 Maxima employees have already overcome the coronavirus. In the past day, more workers have recovered from COVID-19 than have gotten sick.
Yesterday 14 more workers recovered, but 12 cases were also diagnosed. Employees who had potentially close contact with colleagues who developed COVID-19 became isolated.
Stores and other premises where coronavirus-infected staff were employed have also been fully cleaned and disinfected internally. We consulted with the National Center for Public Health and took all recommended preventive actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 ”, says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of the Maxima retail chain.
Retail chain Maxima has been informing the public about all cases of workers infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yesterday, COVID-19 infection was detected in seven employees in Vilnius. Maxima XX Stores, Sausio 13-osios str. 2-1, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 17. No close contacts were found. Coronavirus was also detected in the Maxima XXX store, Ozo str. 18, employees of an existing culinary workshop. He was last at his workplace on November 15. No close contacts were found.
The coronavirus was also detected in two employees of the Maxima XXXX store on the Acropolis. One of them was working for the last time on November 15, the other on November 18. Two colleagues who had close contact with the sick were isolated.
The COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in two Maxima XX stores, Liepkalnio str. 112, for employees. One of them was last at his workplace on November 11 and the other on November 16. No close contacts were found. COVID-19 infection has also been detected in employees of the Vilnius logistics department. He was last at his workplace on November 16. No close contacts were found. A colleague who had a possible close contact became isolated.
An employee of the Maxima XXX store in Akropolis, Klaipėda, was infected with the coronavirus. He was last at his workplace on November 14. No close contacts were found.
COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in two Maxima XX stores in Panevėžys, Klaipėdos str. 92, employees. The last time they visited his workplace was on November 12. No close contacts were found.
The case of the COVID-19 infection was detected in Kiniadainiai, Maxima XX stores, J.Basanavičiaus str. 53, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 15. No close contacts were found.
COVID-19 has also been diagnosed at the Maxima X store in Šilalė, S. Dariaus and S. Girėno str. 12, to the employee. He was last at his workplace on November 18. No close contacts were found.
Shops and other premises where workers infected with COVID-19 worked were completely cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and shoppers of the Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.
“Today, we meet extremely stringent hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly sanitized, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are informed of additional recommendations for avoid direct contact and keep a safe distance.
We also encourage our employees to conduct COVID-19 screening tests for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, ”says E. Dapkienė.
Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizer liquids.
Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.
Currently, the flow of shoppers entering stores is limited in Lithuania. Shoppers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, not to forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask.
A total of 214 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 90 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,627 employees of the Maxima retail chain have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently, 94 responses to employee tests are still pending.
