14 Maxima employees fell ill with coronavirus

On Thursday, November 19, the coronavirus was detected in employees in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Druskininkai, Gargždai and Naujoji Akmenė. Complete disinfection has been carried out in stores and other departments where workers infected with COVID-19 have worked.

“With the dramatic increase in COVID-19 infections across the country over the past day, more cases have been reported among our employees. Coronavirus was detected in 14 workers yesterday and now the number of patients has risen to 118. That is only about 0.8 percent of all Maxima employees, but we would like to see fewer COVID-19 infections among our employees.

By assessing the overall epidemiological situation in Lithuania, we are pleased to be in control of the situation and, so far, we have been able to successfully prevent the spread of coronavirus within the company. We are very happy that the number of people recovering is increasing every day: in the last three days alone, another 21 employees have recovered. We work closely with the National Center for Public Health and take all recommended preventive actions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, ”says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

Retail chain Maxima has been informing the public about all cases of workers infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yesterday, COVID-19 infection was detected in seven employees in Vilnius. He got sick at the Maxima XXX store, Ozo str. 18, employee of an existing culinary workshop. He was last at his workplace on November 15. Two companions became isolated due to possible close contact. Maxima X stores in Parko str. 60A, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 11 and has been in self-isolation for some time due to close contact with another COVID-19 colleague.

Three confectioneries that operate in the Maxima XXX store, Savanorių Ave., were infected with the coronavirus. 247, employees. One of them last visited their workplace on November 10, the others on November 11. A colleague became isolated due to possible close contact. COVID-19 cases were also diagnosed in two employees of the Maxima XX store, Liepkalnio str. 112. Employees come from different departments (stores and food production workshop). The two last visited the workplace on November 16. Close contact with workers exposed to COVID-19 has not been established.

The Maxima XXX in Kaunas, Savanorių Ave., was infected with the coronavirus. 255, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 11. No close contacts were found.

COVID-19 has also been diagnosed in an employee of the Maxima XXX store in the Akropolis of Klaipėda. He was last at his workplace on November 14. No close contacts were found.

COVID-19 was installed in the Maxima XX store in Šiauliai, Rūdės str. 14, employees. The last time he was at work was November 11. No close contacts were found.

Coronavirus was detected in Kėdainiai, Maxima XX stores, J. Basanavičiaus str. 53, employees. He was last at his workplace on October 30. No close contacts were found.

COVID-19 also fell ill at Maxima XX stores in Druskininkai, MK Čiurlionio str. 99, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 11. No close contacts were found.

Maxima X stores in Naujoji Akmenė, L. Petravičiaus a., Became infected with the coronavirus. 4A, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 14. A colleague who may have been in contact with a worker infected with COVID-19 self-isolated.

Coronavirus infection was detected in the Maxima X store in Gargždai, P. Cvirkos str. 8, personal. He was last at his workplace on November 10. No close contacts were found.

Stores and other premises where workers infected with COVID-19 worked were completely cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and shoppers of the Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.

“Today, we meet extremely strict hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are informed of additional recommendations for to avoid direct contact between them and to maintain a safe distance. We also encourage our employees to carry out COVID-19 detection tests for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, ”says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizing liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Currently, the flow of shoppers entering the stores is limited in Lithuania. Shoppers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, not to forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask.

A total of 190 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 72 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,553 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently 100 employee test responses are pending.
