The peasants will not burn their members
The Union of Peasants and Greens of Lithuania will leave the Seimas Elders’ Conference and will not delegate its representatives to the Seimas committees and commissions. According to party chairman Ramūnas Karbauskis, such a decision was made not to cooperate with the rulers in any way due to their behavior.
“As a result, during the first two working days of the Seimas, everything possible was done to destroy the long tradition of the Lithuanian Seimas and the foundations of the political culture. A faction that has 32 members does not have a representative in the Seimas leadership, when factions with 10 to 12 members do, ”R. Karbauskis told reporters on Seimas on Thursday.
The LVŽS faction resigns from any leadership position in the committees, commissions and other structural subdivisions of the Seimas, its representatives withdraw from the Seimas Conference of Elders. The LVŽS faction made such a statement after November 19. handed over the morning session of the faction to the Seimas Board and the Elders Conference.
“We resign any position in any governing body of the Seimas – committees, commissions, we resign from the Conference of Elders. We will not cooperate with this majority of the Seimas in any way. The majority of the Seimas will receive the answer they wanted. At us, like dogs, throw bones at us, ”said R. Karbauskis.
The Seimas rejected the candidacy of Aušrinė Norkienė proposed by the peasants by approving the vice-presidents of the parliament. All the other proposed vice presidents, both the ruler and the opposition, were approved.
The peasants who were left without their representative in the leadership of the Seimas promise to appear before the Constitutional Court because a large political group is in a worse situation than a small group.
Yesterday, the amendments to the Statute of the Seimas were already registered in the Seimas, depriving the opposition of the position of chairman of the Seimas Audit Committee. The rulers are creating the legal conditions to appoint those who are in a minority that has not declared itself in opposition. This destroys another tradition of parliamentary democracy.
