“We are very happy that in the last two days, 12 of our employees have overcome the coronavirus and have recovered. The ranks of those who recover are growing. Unfortunately, the continuing spread of the COVID-19 infection in the country is not escaping: yesterday six Maxima employees were diagnosed with coronavirus. All are treated at home. Employees who had potentially close contact with colleagues who developed COVID-19 became isolated. Stores and other premises where coronavirus-infected staff were employed have also been fully cleaned and disinfected internally. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health and taking all recommended preventive actions that would help prevent the spread of COVID-19 diseases, ”says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

Retail chain Maxima has been informing the public about all cases of workers infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yesterday, COVID-19 infection was detected in two employees in Vilnius. Maxima XXX Stores, Ukmergės str. 282, employee. He has no symptoms, but has been tested for COVID-19 because his family member has coronavirus. The last time he was at his workplace was on November 13. Three colleagues became isolated due to possible close contact. A worker in a logistics warehouse, who was last at her workplace on November 10, also contracted coronavirus. There were no close contacts with colleagues.

Illnesses were also diagnosed in two employees in Klaipeda. Maxima XX stores, Šilutės pl. 68, employee. He was last at his workplace on November 14. There were no close contacts. Coronavirus infection was also detected in the stores of Maxima X, Mokyklos str. 15-25, personal. The last time he was at his workplace was on November 12. There were no close contacts.

Maxima X infected with coronavirus in Domeikava, Vandžiogalos str. 106A, employee. The last time he was at his workplace was on November 11. No close contacts were found.

Coronavirus infection was also detected at the Maxima X for Sale store, Žemaičių str. 37-1, personal. He was last at his workplace on November 16. No close contacts were found.

Stores and other premises where workers infected with COVID-19 worked were completely cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and shoppers of the Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.

Currently, the flow of shoppers entering the stores is limited in Lithuania. Buyers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, not forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear free disposable gloves, which are located at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask.

A total of 176 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 63 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,496 employees of the Maxima retail chain have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently, 78 employee test responses are still pending.
