The Vilnius City Municipality proposes a resolution agreement to the Public Procurement Office (VPN) in a case related to the Multifunctional Complex. Such a proposal was sent from the municipality to the Public Procurement Office on Wednesday in response to the decision of the Vilnius Regional Court, which ruled that at the end of May VPT illegally suspended the signing of the concession contract of the Multifunctional Complex.
The Vilnius city municipality also proposes to abolish the obligation imposed by the court on the Public Procurement Office to reimburse the costs of the litigation incurred by the municipality: more than 6.5 thousand. euros.
“The citizens of the country are not interested in the two state institutions that litigate in the courts. It does not produce any productive results. After evaluating how much time and resources have been invested in the development of the Multifunctional Complex project, and how important It is for the city of Vilnius, we offer the VPN the most optimal version of the outcome of this dispute. We hope that the VPT will choose this path, not the continuation of court disputes and even greater losses for Vilnius residents, “said Povilas Poderskis , director of the municipal administration of the city of Vilnius.
According to P. Poderskis, the municipal peace agreement with the VPT would mean that the process suspended in the spring could continue: Vilnius would rebuild a national stadium along with many sports and educational facilities in the coming years.
In addition to the national stadium, the multi-purpose sports complex would be made up of 15 other sports facilities: athletics field, 6 basketball halls, 3 football training pitches, handball, gymnastics and boxing halls. A sports museum, community center, library, and kindergarten would also be built.
