In a press conference held after the meeting, I. Šimonytė said that he had provided the president with possible names.

“We will find out if those surnames will really be provided only when there is an order from the president to form the government,” said I. Šimonytė.

“It does not mean the consent of the president, meetings, discussions, everything that is needed can begin,” explained the politician.

I. Šimonytė said he had heard some doubts about S. Gentvilas’ candidacy for environment ministers.

“It is normal to have various doubts, especially since I don’t really live in a vacuum, and I have received many appeals from environmental communities, both those who support Gentville’s candidacy and those who have comments on this candidacy.

I think it’s about more discussions and planning of the work, as well as discussions with the president of the country: how to plan the first steps, if the candidacy is approved, to dispel all doubts and give the Minister enough time to show that he is very all right. I care about the environment and the issues that concern the entire Lithuanian society, ”said I. Šimonytė.

Coalition candidate for Prime Minister I. Šimonytė explained how A. Dulkis’ candidacy was chosen to head the Ministry of Health.

“For the Ministry of Health, my choice has to do with the current situation, but also with systemic problems in health care. I believe that A. Dulkys has accumulated a good experience as a State Comptroller, a good knowledge about the problems of the system.

Once again, I emphasize that I have said this many times, including sometime in 2016, when I myself was running for the shadow ministers of the Union of the Fatherland at the time, which, in my opinion, is not necessary that the Minister of Health can prescribe, operate and diagnose. league. It is necessary to have a very good knowledge of the system, its problems, and in accordance with this systematic approach to propose solutions that improve the availability and quality of services ”, said I. Šimonytė.

According to the candidate for prime minister, at this stage no candidacy has been agreed with the president.

“It just came to our notice then. The fact that the president did not nominate Dulkis for a second term is up to the president. I think, as the president himself said at the time, rotation and change are not a bad thing for institutions and ultimately people who come for the period, come for the period. Whether it is offered for another period or not, it is definitely not something guaranteed. I really don’t see wonderful things that managers change in institutions where they are appointed for a specified period, ”said I. Šimonytė.

Nausėda will speak about the candidates after the meeting.

As Povilas Mačiulis, adviser to President G. Nausėda on domestic policy, said after the meeting, the president will introduce I. Šimonyte to the Seimas tomorrow.

“Lithuania’s prosperity will be determined by a high political culture, therefore, in the opinion of the president, it is necessary to raise high cultural standards for oneself and political partners,” he said.

“Taking into account the results of the Seimas elections and the agreement of the three political parties, the president will present his candidacy for the post of prime minister to Seimas I. Šimonytė tomorrow,” said P. Mačiulis, adviser to the president.

He said intensive consultations had so far taken place with both I. Šimonytė and the coalition partners.

“Today, I. Šimonytė presented the president with a complete list of candidates for minister,” he said.

P. Mačiulis stated that he would not speak about specific surnames yet, I. Šimonytė would.

“The president will meet with each of the contenders and may express a reasoned position on whether the candidates are suitable,” he said.

According to the Constitution, the President, with the approval of the Seimas, appoints the Prime Minister, instructs him to form the Government and approves its composition.

I. Šimonytė’s candidacy for prime minister is expected to be presented at the Seimas session on Thursday.

Freedom Party plans
