As the court reported on Tuesday, the man was punished for visiting public places with a coronavirus infection, thus systematically endangering others. Defendant VU was sentenced to a reduction of one third from the final sentence of six months in prison.

The court obliged VU to register with the Employment Service for the entire period of execution of the sentence and not to leave the city or district of permanent residence without the permission of the institution executing the sentence.

“Aware of the danger of the disease and of the need not to contact other people, in addition to warning the mother with whom he was in solitary confinement to follow the rules of self-isolation, he deliberately violated this requirement”,

The court determined that a resident of the Raseiniai district was diagnosed with COVID-19 on September 26 at VU. The family doctor presented the man with the order from the Minister of Health and explained about self-isolation.

However, on October 4, VU left his place of residence and did not observe self-isolation when communicating with a friend. On October 5 and 9, he left home again and visited public places.

Defendant VU pleaded guilty in full. He explained that he felt bad for about four days. Then he thought that if you go looking for mushrooms in the forest near your house, fishing in the Dubysa river near your house, nothing will happen.

The man indicated that in both cases he did not agree with the people, so he thought that he was not behaving very badly. He also owed the acquaintance money, so he went and paid the debt.

The defendant agreed to close the case with a judicial criminal order, as well as the type and amount of punishment proposed by the prosecutor. You have the right to submit an application to the Raseiniai Chamber of the Šiauliai District Court within 14 days, demanding that the case be brought to court.

An effective criminal court order cannot be appealed.
