The Mercedes leader secured the fourth consecutive champion title in Turkey. On Sunday, after a nine-year hiatus in Istanbul, the 35-year-old Briton started sixth, but achieved a dramatic victory.
There are three more stages left until the end of the championship, but the second Mercedes driver, Valtteri Bott, who is in second place in the drivers’ standings, no longer has the theoretical chance of catching up with L. Hamilton. The Finns did not score points in the Turkish GP race.
Hamilton previously became champion in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Racing Point driver L. Stroll, who unexpectedly won pole position in qualifying, took a long lead in the race marked by difficult track conditions, but had to change tires and lost the leading position after 20 laps end.
His Canadian teammate Sergio Pérez held the lead for a short time. At the start of the race, A. Hamilton, who edged out A. Albon and D. Ricciardo, finally got along well with the Mexican and climbed to the finish line in first place.
The next stage of the championship is the Bahrain GP race. They will occur in two weeks.
