Vladas Bertašius from Plungiškės arrived at Plungė District Court on Friday to try to show that the police punished him without a mask as soon as he got out of the car, and the record that he had not complied with the officials’ legal request came only because he explained his rights.

The incident, for which V. Bertašius tried to defend himself legally, took place on Late Day near Plungė Hospital.

“The filmmakers from Palanga, the Klaipėda hospitals were filming, and it was through Plungė. My wife and I had nothing to do on Sunday, November 1, let’s just say maybe we’ll go. We got to that hospital, we looked, four police cars were driving around, we were thinking about what was happening there and we turned around, “said the man.

According to V. Bertašius, the officers treated him rudely and forcibly placed him in an official car. The incident was filmed by people who drove to the hospitals and filmed through the windows what the doctors were doing and what the hospital wards looked like. They defended V. Bertašiai and assured that both the use of masks is a decision that violates human rights and the actions of the officials are illegal and excessive. The video shows how the agents had to spend a lot of time to lock a man in an official car. And closed he knocked on the door.

After the incident, the man, who was unwilling to pay the fines, says he was still unable to enter the courtroom. V. Bertašius’s decision not to wear a mask because, according to him, it was difficult to breathe, was not acceptable to the court.

“They say go out if you don’t wear a mask. I also wanted to measure the temperature, I mean, by no means, if you want, measure it in your hand, “said the man who left the court.

The fine imposed on the man for not wearing the mask and resistance, by court decision, will be examined in a written procedure. By law, for the first offense during quarantine, limited quarantine, as well as in case of emergency or emergency, if the emergency or emergency endangers the life or health of people, a fine of five hundred to fifteen hundred euros will be imposed. . The fine imposed on officials for disobedience ranges between two hundred and five hundred euros.

The people gathered in court also caught the attention of the police officers. One by one, the police teams arrived at the site near the court. Officials asked people to separate, as according to current requirements, no more than five people (if not family members) can swarm during quarantine.

Several men did not wear masks, two began to teach officials that this was their constitutional right. However, these arguments did not persuade the officials and they requested personal documents. Neither of these two men did, assuring them that they were not being carried.

The two men did not object when they were asked to get into the official car, although one of them wondered for some time if they would actually take him to the police station.

According to police officers, the demonstration was peacefully controlled. It is true that two men were still fined for not wearing masks and one woman received a verbal warning for improper organization of the meeting.
