Unfortunately, the 50 epidemiologists currently working at the center and the 50 volunteers from the Lithuanian Armed Forces are not enough to carry out all the research on time. The additional capabilities are critical, ”says Rolanda Lingienė, department manager at NVSC Vilnius.
“Good people also emerged who understood the situation in Lithuania. Therefore, we are very grateful to several Lithuanian companies, whose attitude is very civic and makes a significant contribution to managing the situation, ”says R. Lingienė.
The call center will be assisted by specialists from the army. According to R. Lingienė, quick contact tracing is especially important to stop the epidemic.
“We have calculated that a person can make an epidemiological diagnosis of 4 patients a day. In other words, if there are 1,000 infected people a day, you can imagine how much help is needed, ”says R. Lingienė.
“The volunteers will call the sick people and explain who they had to contact, where they could have hired. And then they will call the people in contact and the workplaces. Later, after identifying the high-risk group, that list will be sent to the NVSC information group, ”says R. Lingienė about the process.
The author of the initiative, Laimonas Baliukonis, Head of Strategy at the MP agency, says that companies with resources and opportunities must help the country fight the pandemic.
“The idea was born very domestic and simple. A few weeks ago, I noticed Rolanda’s cry for help on a social network that hands were missing, help. That is why the idea of gathering resources, people, training them and thus contributing was born. Don’t walk away when a company has a chance to help. To date, we have brought together 13 Lithuanian companies that support the initiative. Since yesterday, 10 new well-trained people have started working at the center. And next Monday 10 more people will start working, ”says L. Baliukonis about the idea.
Currently, 13 partners have already joined the “Let’s Overcome Together” initiative, which not only provides financial support, but also provides the center with the necessary resources. While currently available resources should allow the temporary Covid-19 call center to be operational for 1 month, other companies will also be invited to join during delivery. It is expected that attracting an even greater number of companies will allow the scope of the aid to be expanded and the initiative carried out as necessary.

In public, avoid direct contact with people with whom you normally do not interact, and avoid mass gatherings if possible. It is advisable to give priority to activities in open spaces.
When organizing a large personal celebration, it is recommended to postpone it if possible. Otherwise, it is advisable to limit the number of participants to ensure that the participants do not show any signs of respiratory infection. Participants are asked to respect cough and sneeze etiquette, hand hygiene, and safe distance.
Travelers are advised to postpone unnecessary local and international travel. In preparation for the trip, it is advisable to assess the epidemic situation of the COVID-19 disease (coronavirus infection) in a particular country, the need for the trip and the risk of possible quarantine (isolation) when returning to Lithuania. During the trip, it is recommended to avoid contact with sick people, observe hygiene, consume safe food and water.
