In the last day, 1109 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Lithuania, 11 people died, including the youngest victim of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

Justina Petravičienė, representative of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), informed BNS on Tuesday that a person belonging to the age group of 30 to 39 years with other illnesses is the youngest victim of coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

This death was recorded in Kaunas County.

Saulius Tvirbutas, representative of the LSMU Kaunas Hospital, confirmed to the BNS that the patient was being treated at his hospital, but said he could not say anything more about this case.

Four more deaths were recorded here, as well as in people aged 50 to 99 with other illnesses.

In addition, five deaths were recorded in Panevėžys County, and people aged 70 to 99 with chronic diseases died.

A case was recorded in Telšiai County, where a person over the age of 90 who suffered from a chronic illness died.

A total of 221 deaths from COVID-19 have been confirmed in Lithuania.

Four other people infected with the coronavirus died last day from other causes. These deaths were recorded in Vilnius, Alytus and Klaipėda counties. A total of 74 deaths of this type will be recorded.

In Lithuania, a total of 26,841 people were diagnosed with coronavirus, 20,000 were still sick. 584, recovered – 5962.

Most new cases in Vilnius and Šiauliai counties

Of the 1,109 new cases, 284 were registered in Vilnius, 242 in Šiauliai, 235 in Kaunas, 153 in Klaipėda, 61 in Alytus, 40 in Tauragė, 34 in Marijampolė, 31 in Panevėžys, 23 in Telšiai and six in Utena counties .

“Currently, data from 968 unproven epidemiological studies have not been investigated or entered into the system. This means that it is not yet known under what circumstances or where people were infected. The system shows in which municipalities these people live, but up to make it clear if they are infected where their place of residence is declared. For this reason, these epidemiological data are being reviewed, “says the NVSC report.

According to public health specialists, the cases registered during the last day are related to outbreaks in the Mažeikiai, Alytus, Jurbarkas, Šilalė hospitals, the Karoliniškės polyclinic, the Blinstrubiškės social residence, the Padvariai residence, the “Rugelis” nursery school, childhood “Vaikystė”, Kėdainiai kindergarten-kindergarten “Žilvitis”, kindergarten-kindergarten in Skuodas, Radviliškis district municipality, Employment Service, “Mandate of Christ” church.
