“Recently, there has been a significant increase in COVID-19 infections among our employees. A coronavirus was detected in seven Maxima employees yesterday. All are treated at home. Employees who had potentially close contact with colleagues who developed COVID-19 were isolated. The store facilities where the staff infected with the coronavirus worked were completely cleaned and disinfected internally. We consulted with the National Center for Public Health and took all recommended preventive actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, “he says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of the Maxima retail chain.

Retail chain Maxima has been informing the public about all cases of workers infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yesterday, COVID-19 infection was detected in four employees in Vilnius. Two of them work at the Maxima XXXX store in Akropolis. One COVID-19 worker was at her workplace for the last time on November 3 and another on November 5. Due to a possible contact, the three companions became isolated.

Maxima XX stores infected with coronavirus, Laisvės ave. 26, the employee was last at work on November 5. A colleague who may have contacted him has isolated himself. Another was also infected with coronavirus in Vilnius, Ozo str. 18, store clerk Maxima XXX. He last visited his workplace on November 6. There could have been close contact with three colleagues. The employees were isolated by themselves.

A COVID-19 infection was detected in Klaipeda, Naikupės str. 18 located on a Maxima X employee. Last visited job site on October 29. A colleague who came into contact with a COVID-19 patient became isolated.

Two employees of a food production workshop operating out of the Maxima XXX store in Šiauliai Akropolis were infected with the coronavirus. One COVID-19 worker was at her workplace for the last time on October 30 and another on November 2. Due to possible contact, the two companions became isolated.

Stores and other premises where workers infected with COVID-19 worked have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and shoppers of the Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.

“Today, we meet extremely stringent hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly sanitized, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are informed of additional recommendations for to avoid direct contact with each other and to maintain a safe distance. We also encourage our employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, “says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizer liquids. There are Maxima employees every day

the temperature is measured. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Currently, the flow of shoppers entering stores is limited in Lithuania. Shoppers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, not to forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask.

A total of 102 Maxima employees have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 31 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,264 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. There are currently 102 employee test responses pending.
