BOLT: Those potentially infected with coronavirus can test carriers only after informing them in advance – MadeinVilnius.lt

With the growing number of people wanting to get tested for coronavirus on a daily basis, there is an active public debate on whether this procedure can be performed up to the mobile checkpoint with operators. Although the Ministry of Health (SAM) no longer prohibits taxi drivers and carriers from transporting a potentially coronavirus-infected person to a mobile point, Europe’s leading transportation platform Bolt warns passengers that carriers are free to choice and recommends informing them in advance of their destination.

A week ago, SAM updated its recommendations on passenger travel to mobile survey points, emphasizing that traveling by carrier or taxi is no longer prohibited. However, according to Andrius Pacevičius, the head of Bolt in Lithuania, carriers can decide for themselves whether to agree to serve the customer, so it is necessary to take into account the recommendations offered by the platform in this place.

“We are a socially responsible company, so the well-being of both passengers and drivers is important to us. To ensure everyone’s safety, we strongly recommend that passengers who do not want to travel to the checkpoint by car or municipal transport and still want to travel with Bolt choose the Protect category: these cars are equipped with a plastic partition between the driver and the passenger. Once the driver has confirmed the call in the mobile app, contact him and inform him that the mobile point is being investigated. The driver must know this beforehand, ”says A. Pacevičius.

According to him, passengers must understand that the platform is operated by both young drivers and older drivers, as well as drivers with certain disabilities and at risk, so everyone evaluates the decision based on recommendations and personal conscience.

“I would like to emphasize that after confirming the invitation, there is a rule of three minutes, during which it is possible to cancel the trip and avoid money being deducted. Take advantage of this time and inform your operator of the situation and be patient if the call is canceled. Without informing the carrier about the purpose of the trip, you have the right to politely disembark the passenger and terminate the trip at any time, ”warns Bolt’s boss.

Bolt’s manager also ensures that platform operators are aware of the new security requirements. Carriers should ventilate the interior of the car after each trip, clean door handles and other frequently touched surfaces with a disinfectant.

It is remembered that both carriers and passengers must wear protective masks that cover the mouth and nose during each trip. Passengers are advised to sit in the back seat of the car on the way to the checkpoint.

“We understand that there is currently a pandemic throughout Lithuania, and the circumstances are such that not everyone has the opportunity to go to investigate in their own transport or with the help of family members. We try to facilitate our services and try to ensure the availability of the services, but the awareness of both passengers and carriers, responsible behavior and the application of all possible security measures are very important ”, emphasizes A. Pacevičius.
