An important stage of work
Since spring, Kaunas residents have been observing the changing and beautiful face of Kęstučio Street: the contours of the sidewalks are becoming lighter, and the bike lanes are being completed. Another very important stage awaits the road repairers this weekend: the final asphalt works on the road.
The laying of the new pavement will begin early Saturday morning and traffic will be prohibited on the transport artery of the central artery. Public transport passengers will also need to be careful: stops will be relocated due to construction work, and trolleybuses on Kęstučio Street will be replaced by buses.
Traffic will resume on Monday
Road users promise to lay asphalt on Sunday night so that traffic on Monday morning will already resume. Residents are urged not to leave cars on the street. It is suggested to park the vehicles in the yards or on the adjacent streets.
“Although it will be possible to ‘cross’ Kęstučio Street from the side streets of Gediminas, A. Mickevičius and Maironis, drivers should not be surprised that they have to turn around at intervals. The newly laid asphalt must cool for at least a few hours. This is the only way to ensure its highest quality and durability. We ask Kaunas residents for understanding and patience. The fewer disturbances for road users, the faster the job will be completed, “said Martynas Matusevičius, Head of the Department of Management. of Transport and Traffic of the municipality of Kaunas.
The fewer obstacles, the faster the job will be completed.
Public transportation routes will change
Starting Saturday, trolleybus routes 1, 5, 7, 14 and 15 will be served by buses, which will divert them from Vytautas Avenue to Karo Hospital, Kaunakiemio Street, Karaliaus Mindaugas Avenue and beyond the existing routes.
The buses of routes 6A, 18, 23, 29G, 35A, 37, 39, 40, 46, 47, 57G will also circulate on Avenida Vytautas.
The Griunvaldo St. stop moves to Karo Ligonin Streets and S. Daukanto St. ”and“ Musical Theater ”stops, to Karaliaus Mindaugas Avenue. More information here.
