Coronavirus was detected in Maxima employees in Vilnius, Kaunas and Ukmergė

“With the daily spread of COVID-19 infection across the country, the coronavirus can affect us all. Coronavirus was detected in six more Maxima employees yesterday, but we are very happy that 3 employees have already recovered from COVID- 19 this week. Store facilities and other units where coronavirus-infected workers worked have also been fully cleaned and disinfected internally. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health and taking all recommended preventive actions that would help prevent the spread of COVID-19 diseases ”, says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of the Maxima retail chain.

On Thursday, employees of the Maxima XXXX store located in Vilnius Akropolis detected the COVID-19 infection. He was last at work on October 27. COVID-19 was also diagnosed in other Maxima XXX stores in Vilnius, Savanorių ave. 247, the employee who was last at your workplace on October 30. Both workers affected by COVID-19 had no close contact with clients or other colleagues. An administrative employee and an employee of a food production workshop in Vilnius were also infected with the coronavirus. Colleagues who may have been in contact with workers infected with COVID-19 isolated themselves.

Coronavirus infected in Kaunas, Savanorių ave. The last employee of the Maxima XXX store, 255, was last at her workplace more than two weeks ago, on October 21. There were no close contacts.

COVID-19 infection was also diagnosed in Ukmergė, Žiedo str. 1, located at Maxima XX employees. He last visited his workplace on October 31. Two employees who may have been in contact with a COVID-19 colleague were isolated.

The premises of businesses and other facilities where workers infected by COVID-19 worked were completely cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and customers of this Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.

Currently, the flow of shoppers entering the stores is limited in Lithuania. Buyers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, not forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear free disposable gloves, which are located at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask. Free face masks will be distributed until November 11.

A total of 85 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 28 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,174 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. At present, the responses to the tests of 85 employees are still pending.
