The Ministry of Health presented the mobile application “Korona Stop LT” on Friday. The device captures potential contact with an infected coronavirus, the duration and risk of the contact, not the location of the person. This application acts as a tool to manage the spread of coronavirus infection not only locally but also internationally.

As the Minister of Health Aurelius Veryga said, some other countries in the world have similar applications. The innovation should facilitate the work of epidemiologists who need to inform people about contacts with people with Covid-19.
“Its main purpose is to view or identify people who have been close to an infected person who has been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19. “The application must evaluate how long the person has been, determine if it really was not an accidental overtaking and, with the permission and consent of the prescribed Covid-19 person, inform those who were nearby so they can take certain measures.” Veryga spoke on Friday.

Robert Petraitis, director of the National Center for Public Health, emphasized that the device is voluntary and the effectiveness of the device in managing a pandemic will depend on how many people install and use the device.
“I would like to assure those who are concerned about tracking or data protection that the app does not really track people, it does not determine their location,” Petraitis told reporters.
After downloading the app, the phones use Bluetooth to exchange information about how long, when and how far the Covid-19 patient was. A user of an infected application voluntarily reports on this application without posting any personal information.
Gadget users who have been close to the infected person in the last 14 days receive a risk message. Recommendations for future actions are provided.
