Klaipėda City Time Vytautas Grubliauskas says the previous day’s figures are alarming: 226 positive tests from the entire region were brought to the Klaipėda University Hospital in the last day.
“There were about 50 from Klaipeda in the morning, but the figures will continue to change. This is alarming; It was said that there are up to 700 cases that have not yet been investigated, those people walk down the street or in shopping centers”, – the Mayor of the city shares the latest information about Klaipeda.
Looking at the numbers, the mayor says he has no other useful solution than to close the school doors to the students.
“Next week, inevitably, all educational institutions will work remotely. Extracurricular activities (sports) both outdoors and in swimming pools must be interrupted. There was also talk of extended-day groups: there are also many risks, so that the objective is to follow absolutely all the recommendations and distances, because the students will study remotely, there should be no shortage of space ”, said V. Grubliauskas.
It is true that these stricter rules and restrictions do not apply to preschool and elementary school children, although experts name three new outlets for COVID-19, namely educational establishments.
Raimundas Grigaliūnas, head of the Klaipėda department at the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), says that 97 sick people have already been identified that day and that the outbreaks are spreading quite rapidly.
“It would be difficult to name an area where there are no patients. As for unsolved cases, the priorities are care institutions, kindergartens, schools, and of course other institutions are important. We need to restrict the movements of people, communication Although there are enough recommendations, when investigating cases, we see that this is not always followed: employees work through various institutions, meetings and contests are held. The impression is that the rules are written for someone but not for us. We will no longer say what it was in the past, one disease or another, but we will control it even more ”, says R. Grigaliūnas.
According to the interlocutor, given the schools, a few weeks would be enough to improve the situation.
“We are in favor of a longer period of time to prevent the virus from spreading. In a week, asymptomatic cases can reappear and the virus will begin to spread, ”explained R. Grigaliūnas.
Gintaras Neniškis, director of the Klaipėda administration, says that considering the increasingly dangerous situation, more social workers are being sought, because the situation in the care institutions is not good.
Controls on public transport passengers and carriers are also being strengthened.
The driver will have the right not to allow passengers, transportation will be possible only on the seats, depending on the distance. If the driver accidentally does not see, we would also ask that passengers be alert. The ticket controllers are tasked with disembarking passengers if there are too many, ”says G. Neniškis.
According to the decision, after the entry into force of the quarantine on November 9, work will not have to be suspended in all polyclinics, services will be provided to patients, however, how this will happen will be decided by the family doctor.
