Coroners inspected the residences of this man and his relatives in Telšiai and the Telšiai district. The information was confirmed: the farmer not only cultivated, but was also suspected of participating in illegal activities. In violation of the established procedure, he purchased and kept products subject to excise duty: various alcoholic beverages, which did not have the stamps of the Republic of Lithuania and, it is not excluded, intended for sale, reports the Šiauliai county police.

The agents conducted a total of 6 searches and found 824 bottles of luxury alcoholic beverages: rum, whiskey, gin. 0.7 liter bottles with famous names – Captn Jack, Western Gold, Caribbean Rum 6M6, London Dry Gin and others – were packed in cardboard boxes. Almost all of them were found on an uninhabited farm owned by a man in the Telšiai district. A couple dozen bottles of them were stored with the father-in-law who lived nearby. Researchers are currently investigating the origin of this alcohol and await the conclusions of Lithuanian customs specialists on the value of the alcohol found. If they confirm that the customs value of the alcoholic beverages found exceeds 150 MSL, the owner is liable for criminal liability for the illegal disposal of the excise goods. The Penal Code provides for a fine or imprisonment of up to four years.

Telšiškis is not only a farmer, not only is he suspected of running an illegal side business, but he is also a hunter. Just not very neat. During a search at his mother’s house, agents found 34 ammunition belonging to the man, not in a safe, but in a freely accessible place. The Arms and Ammunition Control Law obliges the owner of a weapon to store both the weapon and the ammunition in such a way that no one can seize and use them. Otherwise, non-compliance with the ammunition storage regime is subject to an administrative sanction.

And that’s not all. During the search of the man’s uninhabited home, forensic scientists found not only 5 unsafe stored ammunition, but also those for which he was not allowed to keep, because he did not have a suitable weapon to shoot with. And this is treated as illegal possession of ammunition and the penalty is foreseen. Following the experts’ conclusion on the category of these munitions, the question of initiating a pre-trial investigation will be addressed. For the illegal disposal of ammunition, the Penal Code provides for arrest or imprisonment for up to five years.
