The prime minister said there was a desire to avoid universal quarantine, but a medical team came up with such an effective solution.

“We wanted to avoid such measures, but we are listening to doctors and specialists. Apparently we have no alternative. Tomorrow, the government will be offered to issue a universal quarantine starting at the end of this week, Saturday, probably at midnight,” said the Tuesday the prime minister.

It is planned to introduce the global quarantine for at least three weeks. This will be decided at a government meeting on Wednesday.

“With the hope that later it will be possible to return to a normal life,” he said.

What suggestions?

Prime Minister S. Skvernel listed the measures that could be proposed.

“The same recommendation, which has always been the case, is to follow social distance. (…) A stricter solution will be proposed: the introduction of quarantine prohibits communication between more than two families or between two families, no more than 10 people. These bans will be absolute throughout the country, ”said the Prime Minister.

It will also not be advisable to move between the cities of the country, but there will be no severe restrictions.

“It is suggested not to organize various personal celebrations, such as weddings, as well as funerals. No more than 10 people,” said the Prime Minister.

Churches that suspend all direct services will be offered.

“The work of public catering establishments will be stopped, only food will be allowed. The restriction of stores and pharmacies will not be special when it comes to grocery stores. And for others, the requirement to secure a certain area per buyer is 10 square meters, “he said.

According to the Prime Minister, the activities of beauty salons and hairdressers will not be restricted, all hygiene requirements must be met and prior registration will be required. The activities of the massage parlors would also be suspended.

“There will be a proposal to suspend the activities of sports clubs, swimming pools, spas, to ban dancing, singing and other contact activities,” the prime minister said Tuesday.

“The proposal is also about the work regime, the meetings, so that everything can be done remotely,” said the Prime Minister on teleworking.

It will be offered to educational institutions that decide for themselves on the combination of face-to-face and distance education.

“Primary education, preschool, kindergartens would function without restrictions. (…) And in the case of schools, a mixed or distance learning approach is proposed, with 50 percent of education in contact, but the details will be tomorrow. Many things are likely to be left to the founders of the schools, depending on the situation, ”said the Prime Minister.

“Institutions of higher education will be instructed to work remotely only, except for health, life science and veterinary science students, when it is not possible to conduct classes remotely,” said S. Skvernelis.

Museums, theaters and cinemas will be suspended.

“Museums, theaters, cinemas – they will offer to suspend their activities. Libraries have the right to operate remotely,” he said.

“Sporting events – no spectators,” said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister reiterated that everything will have to be decided by the Government on Wednesday.

“These are general principles, I don’t want to go into details. Today and tomorrow it will be added to the relevant versions of the Government Resolution. “I hope that tomorrow the government will make the necessary decisions and take the necessary decisions, which could take effect from Friday to Saturday night and last for three weeks,” he said.

“All public events will be closed, there will be absolutely no public events, in terms of concerts, sports competitions in which spectators will participate. That is a fact. And if it is too early or too late … We see that all countries have tried to avoid it in different ways, in different ways, but unfortunately so far both scientists and professionals, as well as the example from all over Europe, show that there is no other way . The proposal of the government’s medical working group is timely and will be implemented, “the prime minister said at the press conference.

On Saturday, when the number of new diseases in the country surpassed a thousand, Prime Minister S. Skvernelis announced on Facebook that he would propose to publish local quarantine in the country’s municipalities marked in yellow, to tighten the quarantines already in force.
