“I have been in isolation since last Sunday because they informed me that I had contact with someone with a coronavirus. I had no health problems, I took a test on Friday, I began to feel the first symptoms at night. On Saturday I received the confirmation: the test is positive, “writes R. Račkauskas.

The mayor of Panevėžys says that although the first day was not easy due to the high temperature, now he feels better.

“It just came to our attention then. Well, how long will you have to extend your work from home. We already have an internship and there should be no major problems. Let’s protect ourselves and each other, congratulate and be healthy,” said Mayor R Račkauskas.

This week it was reported that coronavirus was detected in up to 6 employees of the municipal administration of the city of Panevėžys. The heads of administration decided to work remotely.

“Taking into account the epidemiological situation in the Municipality, it was decided that the most appropriate preventive measure is for employees who can perform their functions in this way to work remotely. We ensure that the provision of services to the population is not interrupted: jobs are organized promptly, remote meetings are organized, inspections and other functions are carried out. So far, we have planned to work remotely until November 6. We are doing everything possible to prevent the virus from spreading among employees and we are actively cooperating with specialists from the National Center for Public Health ”, says Tomas Jukna, Director of Administration.

All workers with confirmed COVID-19 disease and their contacts are isolated.

In total, 15,000 people in Lithuania have been infected with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. 719 people, 10 thousand. 613 – still ill, 4883 – recovered.

A total of 166 people have died since COVID-19.
