Poll: what about my Kaunas masks over protective masks?

Floral, spiked, velor and disposable: masks have become our daily protection and fashion accessory. But do you know how to wear them correctly?

After a little breath of fresh air in the summer and early fall, we went back to wearing protective masks this week. Doctors, pharmacists, and even politicians are constantly being reminded how to use them correctly. Rub with your finger if the masks do not fit as close to the cheeks as possible, except when people touch them with dirty fingers, do not disinfect the reusable fingers and use the disposable ones until they lose their color. “Kauno diena” asked if the citizens believe in the effectiveness of the masks and if they know how to use them correctly, so that the face patch is more than an accessory. Speakers almost unanimously confirmed that masks are inconvenient and their protection questionable.

Jogailė and Radvilė, schoolgirls:

In the street, we see many people wearing masks incorrectly. It is usually old. Masks are put on the forehead or under the beard, and they should be worn like us: the mask has to cover the nose. We hear on television that in some countries, children under the age of 11 do not need to wear masks. It is a pity that this is not our case. It is inconvenient with masks, that’s why we always take them off in the forest.

Aida, retired:

I wear the mask because I need it and because I believe in its effectiveness. I don’t use disposables, I buy disposables with a silver ion coating. I have already changed some. I do not punish people who use it incorrectly on the street: everyone decides how to monitor and protect. I believe in the conscience of the people. Do I believe in the threat of a virus? I have a cousin who works in biochemistry, so I see the situation a little differently.

Vlad, retired:

Do you know what I think of this whole situation? This is a scary pandemic. But I can’t react. I put on the mask. The wife ordered and clearly fears the fines. I hope this all ends soon. The worst of all is that it does not depend on us. A pandemic is world class and we do what comes from somewhere higher and higher.

Gražvydas and Giedrė, spouses:

We agree that masks should be used indoors, but why do you need them outdoors? In general, we believe that the virus is not so dangerous that people drop like flies. Of course, people with weak immunity are more sensitive, but those people can also die when exposed to a rose needle. How do we strengthen immunity ourselves? We take a cold shower, exercise, drink natural juices, and now we also consult ginger.

Audrius, Kaunas:

I, like you, wear glasses and there is little pleasure in them. Constantly wet. So every now and then I have to lower my mask so I can see well again. I don’t recognize multiple masks. I think they just accumulate a lot of different bacteria, and people don’t really disinfect them as often as they should. That is why I choose the only ones. Use, throw and take another.

Edward, retired:

I don’t believe in the power of masks and I bet only on fines. I am old, I am 70 years old. I’ve seen everything in my life, so I’m not afraid of crowns or viruses. I fear people more and what they can create. After all, this whole coronavirus is a man-made affair. Trust me. In the spring, a politician shouted that the masks are bad, that they do not help at all, and now the same politician speaks very differently.
