Riots broke out on Friday night when a group of youths began throwing stones and firecrackers at the police’s side. The media also showed images of how the hooligans smashed the window of a bicycle shop and then removed the products.

The police have arrested 12 people, two of whom are minors.

Barcelona police chief Pere Ferrer said that the participants in the riots were “very aggressive and organized members of far-right groups.”

The riots took place at night in several other Spanish cities, including Burgos, from Friday to Saturday.

Spain, like many other European countries, is currently working to curb the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection.

The Spanish parliament approved this Thursday a proposal to extend for half a year the national emergency imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The implementation of the state of emergency will allow the Spanish governments of the 17 regions responsible for health care to take measures to restrict the movement of people, including the curfew and the closure of their borders.

This is the second time since the start of the pandemic that Spain has imposed a national emergency.

It was first introduced in mid-March and lasted until the end of June. Taking advantage of the emergency, a strict quarantine was announced and people were only allowed to leave their homes to go to work, medical facilities or to buy food.

The Spanish government says it wants to avoid a strict quarantine this time.
