At the same time, the minister did not rule out the possibility that new restrictions on where people congregate will be considered next week. In addition, he warned that more cities will be on the list of red municipalities, which means that they will also be threatened with quarantine.

“Virus rates continue to deteriorate, we have an exponential increase in the number of infections. Lithuania will undoubtedly be on the list of red countries according to its health indicators and spread of viruses, ”he said.

Will ask for military aid

He stressed that such a rapid number of diseases is causing many problems for the authorities.

They arise both for those who have to consult the neighbors, investigate chimneys, identify cases. It is definitely not the first day that we hear difficulties in calling the hotline, ”said the Chief of Operations, the Minister of Health.

Mr. Veryga asked for patience and said that technical solutions were being sought.

“It is promised to use the help of the military medical service as much as possible, because the cases are being identified in the army itself.” (…) It is also difficult to work at the NVSC, so the specialists who met yesterday reviewed all the processes related to both the chimney investigation and public information. There is an agreement on certain works that would facilitate the work and eliminate unnecessary processes ”, said the Minister.

The quarantine will threaten more cities

The minister assured that it is certainly not realistic that the municipalities in quarantine end earlier.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Because not only is the situation not improving, it is getting worse. There will definitely be more municipalities on the red list than last week. And we will see an increasingly red map of Lithuania,” he said.

At the same time, he hinted that new restrictions on where people congregate could wait until next week.

“Once we meet in the COVID-19 Steering Committee on Tuesday to assess the situation, I could not say anything specific, because some of the measures that have been implemented have recently come into effect. But I would definitely not rule out the possibility of additional measures being proposed which, if proposed, will be more related to the places where people gather, which may not be necessary for life, ”said the minister.

Daiva Razmuvienė, chief specialist of the Communicable Disease Management Division of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), said that the number of cases will increase.

“If everyone in society now doesn’t realize that everything depends on him, doctors certainly won’t be able to salvage the entire threat,” he said.
