Having a great choice and freedom to travel to any part of the world, we were like prisoners in our own country, but it gave us the opportunity to get to know our homeland and many rediscovered Lithuania and chose natural objects, often walking.

Not surprisingly, walking is universal: you can travel alone, with friends or family, choose an easier or more difficult route, you don’t have to spend a lot, but you can also choose comfortable accommodation. All these advantages can also be tested on the new hiking trails through the forest and the sea.
Route E11 currently runs from the Netherlands to the Polish border with Lithuania and ends there for the time being. From Riga in Latvia, this route continues to the Estonian capital Tallinn, but next year the route will be marked in Lithuania from the border between Poland and Lithuania to the border between Lithuania and Latvia and in Latvia from the border between Lithuania and Poland to Riga city.
The section of the E11 route that passes through the 3 Baltic countries will be known Miško like this Name. For its part, the E9 route is a route that extends for 5,500 km along the coasts of Portugal, Spain, France, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, Latvia and Estonia, and from next year also on the coast from Lithuania. For hikers who travel Sea route, it will be possible to travel continuously on foot for about 1,300 kilometers along the coast of all the Baltic States. The sea route in Lithuania will run on the territories of the Šilutė district, Klaipėda district and city, Palanga city, Neringa municipality.
After preparatory work in the summer, the experts checked the route of the future route and organized it so that the walk was safe, accessible and fun for various groups of people and individual travelers. Both routes will be divided into daily stages of 15-20 kilometers, depending on the choice of services for hikers. The same signs will be used to mark forest and sea trails as in Latvia and Estonia, where these trails are already signposted and well recognizable.

Hikers in Europe can choose from a wide range of long-distance routes, and thanks to the 2014-2020 Interreg VA The cross-border cooperation program between Latvia and Lithuania funded the project “Development of forest routes in Lithuania and Latvia. Development of the Baltic Sea Pedestrian Route in Lithuania ”(LLI-448, Hiking Project) In the fall of next year, two European long-distance routes E11 and E9 will be marked in Lithuania.
