A young cosmetology specialist caught the attention of FNTT officers, who administered so-called beauty injections for the face to their clients in two beauty salons in Kaunas: hyaluronic acid fillers. In almost three years, the defendant allegedly purchased 792 boxes of pre-filled syringes with hyaluronic acid from a company that markets fillers, for a total of 1,563 syringes.

Officials estimated that the amount of the purchases could have exceeded 134 thousand. euros. The cost of a procedure ranged between 140 and 200 euros.

Although she did not have a valid license to provide interventional services that can only be performed by doctors, the girl had injections in her lips, adjusted other areas of the face, also used a mechanical device for needle-type hyaluronic procedures and provided other services with hyaluronic acid .

The investigation was led by the Prosecutor of the Second Prosecution Division of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The pre-trial investigation was launched after a joint inspection by the FNTT Kaunas Regional Board and the Kaunas County State Tax Inspectorate.

The most severe punishment for engaging in large-scale illegal professional activities without a license is imprisonment for up to four years. It is also possible to confiscate the income and instruments received from the intervention procedures, reports the FNTT.
