In Latvia, COVID-19 numbers jumped to all-time highs

Both numbers are the highest since the outbreak began.

On Friday morning, 40 patients infected with coronavirus were treated in Estonian hospitals, three of whom required artificial lung ventilation.

Another new record for COVID-19 infection has been set in Poland

In Poland, 21,629 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in COVID-19 in the last day, the highest number since the outbreak was reported, as well as 202 deaths, with Polish public radio citing health services on Friday.

The previous daily record for new cases, 20,156, was set on the eve.

Among the latest victims of the epidemic, the death of 35 people is directly related to complications from COVID-19 and another 167 patients also suffered from comorbidities, the ministry said in a Twitter message.

According to officials, a total of 340,834 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Poland since the start of the pandemic, and 5,351 people have died.

According to the Ministry of Health, 15,444 patients with COVID-19 were treated in hospitals in the country on Friday morning, of which 1,254 required artificial lung ventilation.

To date, 134,724 people with coronavirus infections have recovered in the country, 5,457 of them in the last day, the ministry added.
