As the situation worsened, Veryga said the local quarantine would not be lifted sooner.

“To end the quarantine earlier, I think there are no chances or opportunities, because the situation continues to deteriorate. There will definitely be more municipalities on the red list than last week. We will see an increasingly red map of Lithuania. Those measures that are personalized or they work, they do not produce results during the day. It takes at least a week, generally 2 weeks, to see some stabilization, “the minister explained.

Veryga added: “I would not rule out the possibility that a national quarantine could be issued. Because there are fewer and fewer municipalities in the yellow zone. But that must be decided by the government. “

The only way out is quarantine.

At present, the two-week coronavirus incidence in Lithuania is even higher than in Sweden, which has not taken strict measures to control the spread of the coronavirus. There may be a shortage of doctors

Veryga drew attention to the deterioration of the situation in the country’s hospitals: “I certainly would not rule out the possibility that there is a shortage of doctors in one or another institution. And this has already happened, for example, in Raseiniai. This is also the case in the spring, when many doctors have been isolated. I had to help other medical institutions. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of it happening again. <...>

If all beds currently available for COVID patients are covered, scheduled patient rooms will remain closed and will become coronavirus patient rooms.

If we build a building somewhere where we bring beds, neither the building itself nor the beds will serve the patients. There should be doctors working there. That’s the least option to consider. “

There were no more free beds at the infectious disease center

Professor L. Jančorienė said that the situation in the Santara clinics is currently particularly difficult.

“The flow of patients is very high, yesterday the Center for Infectious Diseases was filled with everything possible. Other beds are open in certain pavilions of Santara’s clinics, which are also starting to fill up.

We are already directing a large number of patients from the reception to the support hospital, Antakalnis Hospital. It’s only today at 8pm. A. Veryga also appealed to those who intend to visit the graves of their loved ones during the long weekend.

No retest required

The minister recalled that a repeat coronavirus test was not required to demonstrate recovery.

“We want to ask residents not to call the hotline for a new investigation to prove their recovery. It is not necessary,” warned A. Veryga.

Professor L. Jančorienė explained more about why it is not necessary to repeat the test.

According to the professor, at the beginning of the pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) had announced that 2 negative PCR test results were needed to confirm recovery from a coronavirus infection. However, now, with more and more information, it is said that the coronavirus does not remain viable in the human body for more than 10 days.

“There are many sources of literature. As a result, the WHO and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention have published new guidelines. It is clearly stated that the duration of self-isolation should be reduced in the event of relapse and COVID-19 infection. All the data suggests that people with a moderate to mild form of COVID-19 remain contagious for up to 10 days. We know that PCR tests can be positive and many patients have experienced 2 months without a negative result. Therefore, it is not necessary to repeat the PCR test, except for those with severe disease. In this case, the virus remains contagious for about 20 days.

The epidemiologist said what is most concerning

735 new cases

NVSC [pranešė, kad per praėjusią parą Lietuvoje patvirtinti 735 koronavirusinės infekcijos (COVID-19) atvejai. 181 iš jų registruotas Kauno, 129 Klaipėdos, 128 Vilniaus, 80 Šiaulių, 78 Telšių apskrityse. Dar 38 atvejai registruoti Tauragės 37 Panevėžio, 31 Marijampolės, 21 Alytaus ir 12 Utenos apskrityse.

Iš šių atvejų didžioji dauguma registruoti, kai asmenys užsikrėtė po kontakto su asmenimis, kuriems patvirtintas koronavirusas. Tuo metu, atvejų, kai asmenų užsikrėtimo aplinkybės nėra aiškios, t. y epidemiologinių tyrimų metu nustatyta, jog asmenys išvykę į užsienį nebuvo, su patvirtintais COVID-19 atvejais nebendravo, registruoti 138. NVSC praneša, kad iš gydymo įstaigų praėjusią parą gauta informacija apie 7 mirtis nuo koronaviruso. Šiuo metu infekcija yra pasiglemžusi 157 gyvybes.

Pirmasis mirties atvejis registruotas Klaipėdos apskrityje. Asmuo priklausė 70–79 metų amžiaus grupei, turėjo lėtinių susirgimų. Koronavirusas asmeniui patvirtintas spalio 29 d.

Antrasis mirties atvejis registruotas Kauno apskrityje. Asmuo priklausė 80–89 metų amžiaus grupei, turėjo lėtinių susirgimų. Koronavirusas asmeniui patvirtintas spalio 27 d.

Trečiasis mirties atvejis registruotas Marijampolės apskrityje. Asmuo priklausė 80–89 metų amžiaus grupei, turėjo lėtinių susirgimų. Koronavirusas asmeniui patvirtintas spalio 16 d.
