“And the choice of scientists is always good for them to meet and discuss. Although, again, I just want to say that this should not be overrated or overestimated, because countries like Germany and France, which have huge institutes (…) They have found nothing better, ”the minister told LRT radio on Friday.

He said that until a vaccine is developed, quarantine and movement restrictions are basically the only measures that can be taken to manage the crisis.

“Scientists, apparently, will not come up with any miracles, doctors will not multiply in hospitals, beds can be built, but the number of doctors will not increase, definitely not worth waiting for any miracle solutions,” said A. Veryga.

He also said that he does not know to what extent the government’s mandate could take into account the proposals of the council called by the president.

“The government has its own mechanism and we have to give in to some more mechanisms, that is time, and we cannot connect to the infinite mechanisms, because it takes people out of work and sits, sits, discusses, we really don’t have to do it, “said the minister. .

A.Veryga pointed out that this new formation will not have official powers and said that he does not yet know exactly how it will work.

“I don’t know, I really don’t want to ignore anyone, but like I said, we communicate with the scientists ourselves … if there is any rational suggestion, of course, every intelligent person will listen,” added the Health Minister.

Speaking of this initiative, he also stressed that the unifying role of the president can be very important, because “the new ruling majority of us is not very interested in hearing anything.”

Presidential adviser Simon Krėpšta announced Thursday that an advisory council of health experts will be established under the Presidency, which should be made up of about 30 scientists.
