A coronavirus was detected in a Maxima security employee in Klaipėda

On Tuesday, October 27, a security guard detected a coronavirus at the Maxima X store in Klaipeda. Representatives of the Maxima retail chain say they currently do not know there are more in the same Maxima X store, Taikos ave. 12A, colleagues working in Klaipeda would feel the characteristic symptoms of COVID-19 infection. The store is completely sanitized.

“A worker diagnosed with a COVID-19 infection is being treated at home. He did not have close contact with buyers or other colleagues. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health and, if necessary, we will take the recommended actions, ”says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of the Maxima retail chain.

A Maxima security guard infected with coronavirus was tested for COVID-19 on October 27. He visited the workplace for the last time last Saturday, October 24. No close contacts were found.

The Maxima store, where a COVID-19 employee worked, has also been fully cleaned and disinfected. “Today, we meet extremely strict hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are also familiar with additional recommendations for avoid direct contact and maintain a safe distance. We encourage our employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, “says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizing fluids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Shoppers are asked to keep a safe distance in stores, remember to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands, and wear free disposable gloves available at the entrance. Starting today, October 28, all Maxima stores will receive a one-time free face shield. This procedure is valid until November 11. In the municipalities where the quarantine is applied, the flow of buyers to the stores is restricted.

A total of 41 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 24 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 864 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently, 54 employee test responses are still pending.
