In Estonia, a record number of COVID-19 cases

Previously, the highest number of new COVID-19 cases per day was confirmed on April 2, when the figure was 93.

On Wednesday morning, 32 patients infected with coronavirus were treated in Estonian hospitals, one of which required artificial lung ventilation.

No new deaths have been reported in the country.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Estonia has confirmed a total of 4,590 cases of infection. The total number of deaths from this disease is 73.

Mari Anne Harma, Deputy Director General for Health of the Estonian Department of Health, says that if it was possible to talk about a stable situation last week, now things are different.

She says 125 positive coronavirus test results per day, most of the new cases in a nursing home in Rapla. Currently, the Department of Health is identifying other outbreaks.

According to the official, 23 active outbreaks of the virus were recorded in Estonia on October 27, half of which are related to workplaces. The other part – with schools.

MA Harma added that the number of asymptomatic carriers of the virus is growing.

“If you suspect that you have been in contact with a sick person, pay attention to even mild symptoms of the disease, such as headaches and sore throats,” says Harma, adding that tests are currently being conducted very urgently if it is necessary.
